The Tom Bass Regional Park – Section III

The second section of the National Park, Tom Bass Regional Park, was established by the Department of the Interior in 1894. It is part of the Cape Cod National Seashore and was created to protect the coastline of Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Hampshire from marauding sea life and other threats. This section of the park features a number of different activities for visitors to participate in. The Tom Bass Regional Park is open to the public every day of the year, from May through October. The park has two campgrounds located just thirty minutes from the beach in Revere. Visitors are allowed to camp at any time of the year; however, the camping area is very small and visitors are restricted to staying there until they are removed from the campground. A small portion of the beach is open to visitors who follow proper guidelines but is not open for swimming. Most of the park is on privately owned land, so the campgrounds are located within the boundaries of the national seashore and are operated by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the National Park Service (NPS). The campground is open seven days a week; however, on the weekend, only one hundred and twenty-five campers may stay on site to accommodate the park’s visitor traffic. These visitors have access to the campgrounds, restrooms, and showers. There are nine picnic areas, several fire rings, and four boat slips that provide a safe place to gather and relax on the beach or while enjoying the park.
